WHAT IS IDIOPATHIC PULMONARY FIBROSIS (IPF)?
According to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, IPF is a condition that causes progressive scarring of the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Without proper oxygenation, the lungs become unable to provide the body with enough oxygen. The scarring over time becomes thick and stiff, making it difficult for the lungs to expand properly. This scar tissue can accumulate and the cause is unknown. Although the cause is unknown, there are many risk factors such as smoking, environmental exposures, family history of IPF, microbial agents, and Gastroesophageal reflux.

WHAT IS THE IPFÂ WINDSOR-ESSEXÂ SUPPORT GROUP?
The Windsor-Essex IPF Support Group was started with the belief that every single one of us is resilient, and that our resilience can be fostered with the help and support of a community. IPF is a condition that may come with emotional weight. An established support group in Windsor for patients suffering from IPF would provide members with an opportunity to share personal experiences and coping strategies about their disease. We invite you to find out more information and hope you will join us.
